Vortex Flow Meter
Vortex Meter / Bopp & Reuther (Germany)
The Vortex Meter type VTX2 operates on the principle of the Karman vortex street. The replacement frequency of vortices formed after the bluff body is scanned by a patented sensor and a micorprocessor-controlled electronics converted into a flow signal.
Application :
Vortex meters generally have a wide range of application. They are used in various industries:
• for flow measurement of gas and steam
• for flow measurement of conductive and nonconductive fluids
• Use of measuring points which is a particulary robust measurement
• Volume measurement for accounting (eg, compressed air systems, heat carriers, steam, chmemical products)
• Process control
• Applications with high flow rate
A proven way to increase the accuracy in practice is to calibrate the vortex meter, including its complete in-and outlet section. The section may then also already contain the measurement points for pressure and temperature (gas, steam measurement).
Over a flow computer the mass or the energy can be accounted. This solution is often very beneficial for the user because it is a solution with a high degree of measurement techniques delivered to safety.
Advantages :
Designed for the process:
• extremely robust and resilient
• excellent metrological characteristics
• with intelligent electronics
• excellent compensation of vibrations
• insensitive to pulsation, hydraulic shock and thermal shock
• easy to use transmitter with fast signal processing and diagnostic statistics
• 2-wire technology
